Summer Matchplay win Number four for Jaci Moriarty Well done Jaci Moriarty on a successful defence of her Summer Matchplay Trophy. Jaci and fellow finalist Joan Gray have been dominant in this competition, being the only winners of the trophy for the last six years. The lead changed hands more than a few times today during the outward half then Jaci was two up after 15 then Joan won the 16th to be one behind. However Jaci then took the match at the 17th for a fourth matchplay in 6 years. PREVOUS WINNERS |

National win for Diane Moncrieff and Suzanne Ireland Well done to Diane Moncrieff and Suzanne Ireland who won the Commonwealth Spoons Foursomes today over Torwoodlee. This is a national competition run by the SLGA for which Diane and Suzanne qualified from the Midlothian section to pit their skills against the area winners from all over Scotland and they came up trumps with a 74 and a better inward half over two other couples thanks to a fine back nine of 41. And it didn't end there, the dynamic duo also found success in the prestigious Gibson Cup by winning the second string matchplay competition the following week. |
||
| 22nd September | Fab 58 for Sensational Sue in Septemer Medal Sensational Sue Sayer score an incredible 58 in the September Medal. Needless to say Sue won the Bronze by a mile and will no doubt have a brand new lower handicap as a result, great round Sue well done. Eunice Reid was Bronze Runner-Up with 75. Linda Bain wins the Silver with a 75 from Joan Gray runner-up with a 75 CSS today was 73 (ro) |

32 Club win for Jaci The hits just keep on coming for Jaci Moriarty in what is turning out to be an exceptional season. This weekend Jaci played in the final of the 32club championship over Whitekirk. Giving 12 strokes to her opponent meant her expectations weren't high but never the less she plugged away in a roller-coaster of a match to win at the last hole and become the first female winner of the trophy, well done. And there was more success the next day as Jaci and Duncan Ireland made a valiant defence of the Craigmillar Park Mixed Open. They may have come up just short of the main prize this time but 81 was good enough to take the second Scratch prize. |
|||
| 13th September | Jane turns the tables to win the Betty Noble Jane Maclean bounced back from her Matchplay semi-final loss to Jaci Moriarty earlier in the week to win a closely contested Betty Noble competition today. Carding a par 70 revenge was sweet as Jane came in one stroke ahead of runner-up Jaci moriarty (71). Helen Borthwick was third with a 72 CSS was 70 |

Eunice and Jaci top the August Medal With the course getting back to something resembling a golf course (rather than a swamp) scores are beginning to improve. Eunice Reid played a very steady round of 73 to secure a 6-stroke win in the Bronze Medal with Sandra Craig taking the runner-up spot. The Silver medal was a tighter affair as Jaci Moriarty swapped places with Thursday's winner Pat Meikle to win this time. Jaci and Pat both scored 72 and Jaci took the medal on the BIH. CSS was 70 so its a 0.1 increase for everyone except Jaci, Eunice and Pat. |
|||
| 28th August | Stableford win for Pat Meikle Pat Meikle win a closely fought Thursday Stableford today. it was always going to be tough as the course was still suffering from the recent bad weather. However Pat's creditable 33 points was enough to win by one point from Jaci Moriarty. Joan Gray was third with 26 points. CSS was 73 and the good news it was reduction only so no amendments to handicaps. |

Wonderful weekend for Jaci Moriarty It may have been a great weekend for Team GB Olympians, but Jaci Moriarty had a Super Saturday and Sunday of her own. Firstly, on Saturday, Jaci and Duncan Ireland took the top prize at Broomieknowe's Mixed Open with a 66, having rode their luck in the outward 9 with some excellent saving putts they posted the score which kept them top of the leaderboard for the whole day. Then Super Sunday, Jaci, a last minute entry for Kingsknowe Ladies Open played an excellent round of 69 which won the Silver Handicap prize and just lost out for the top prize on the better inward half. Jaci also was three under the CSS of 72 and so gains another handicap cut. Well done also to Pat Meikle and Sandra Craig who walked of with a couple of nearest the line prizes. |

Familiar faces in the Summer Matchplay Semi-Finals Jaci Moriarty and Joan Gray have won the last five Summer Matchplays between them and they are still on course for another final. However their semi-finals will be tough matches. Jaci continues her defence of the trophy against Jane Maclean who had a fine win over Sue Sayer in the previous round. And Joan, who saw of Eileen Gillespie with a 2 at the 17th on Tuesday meets Violet Paterson who has been playing well since cutting her handicap while winning the June Medal. Previous Winners |

Trio Of Fine Results from Mandy, Diane and Eileen There were three excellent performances away from Craigentinny in the space of a week. First up, new member, Mandy McBain won the Swanston Ladies Championship, beating Muriel Gilligan 3 & 2 in the final. Diane Moncrieff faired well at the Broomkieknowe Ladies Open, her 71 was only one behind the eventual winner, but good enough to take third place. And finally Eileen Stevenson shot a wonderful 55 during the Melville Golf Club medal and with a CSS of 62 Eileen will no doubt cut a bit more off her handicap. Well done to you all. |

| 31st July | Stableford win for Eunice The July Stableford was won today by Eunice Reid with an excellent 39 points, giving her another handicap cup, edging ever closer to the Silver Section. Pat Meikle followed up Saturday's Medal win with 36 Stableford Points today to take the runner-up spot followed by Saturday's other winner Sandra Fairgrieve who scored 32 points. |
|||
| Sandra Fairgrieve and Pat Meikle win the July Medals as Championship places are finalised In a low scoring Medal Sandra Fairgrieve showed her recent Stableford win was no fluke as she won the Bronze medal with an excellent 67. With a cut in handicap Sandra is definitely on the up, winning the Bronze on the b.i.h. from Fiona Findlay who is clearly recoving well from the broken ankle. The Silver Medal was also a very closely run thing and it was Pat Meikle who came out top with a 68 on the b.i.h. from Eileen Gillespie both Pat and Eileen shaved a piece off their handicaps but more importantly they also improved their Championship positions in the final line-up. Pat moved into third place and Eileen swapped places with Linda Bain to move into the top qualifying postion. The CSS for today was 69. Final Championship positions. |

Glencorse victory for Jaci and Duncan Jaci Moriarty and Duncan Ireland won the big prize at Glencorse Mixed Open today. They proved just as capable at the Greensome format as they have been in the foursomes this year. A 61.2 was their winning score and would you believe the scratch prize was won by Duncan's wife Suzanne playing with Robert Binnie, also shooting a 69. Their nearest the pin and a share of the two sweeps (there were only three) meant they went away with a bit more of the cash on the day. |

Two in a Row as Margaret Richards wins the Fay Allanach Trophy Margaret Richards won her second trophy in a matter of days. Following her Captains Trophy win on Saturday her score of 72 tonight won her the Fay Allanach trophy. Incredibly Margaret started with a 10 but played a great 17 holes to win on the better inward half from Coleen Derighetti with Joan Gray coming third with a 74. Could it be three in a row on Saturday? CSS was 70 |

Margaret Richards wins Captain's Trophy The Captains Trophy was won today by Margaret Richards with an excellent 40 point's. Margaret's first win of the year ensures her handicap moves in the right direction. A new lower handicap proved no problem for Violet Paterson as she was runner-up with 38 points and will gain another handicap adjustment. Sandra Craig was third with 36 points. |

Newbattle Scratch prize for Jaci and Duncan Well done to Jaci Moriarty and Duncan Ireland who won the best scratch prize at Newbattle Mixed Open today. Duncan's wife Suzanne, playing with Lochend's Gavin Clarke lead the scratch score for most of the day with 82 until Duncan and Jaci playing in the final pairing came in with the 81, wonder if Mr Ireland got any supper that night. |

| 26th June | Sandra Fairgrieve wins the June Stableford Great to see Sandra Fairgrieve in the winners enclosure today. Any thoughts of the health problems that have restricted her golf were forgotten as Sandra bounced back by winning the June Thursday Stableford with 32 points. Eunice Reid and Jessie Grahame both scored 30, Eunice taking the runner-up spot on the better inward half. |
|||

Linda Bain wins the Ladybank Ladies Open Our Champion Linda Bain is warming up nicely for the defence of her title with a fine run of form which continued at Ladybank today as she won their Ladies Open. Linda's competition winning score of 68 was even more impressive when you find out the CSS came out at 75. What a year its turning out for Linda. so far she has bagged the Coronation Foursomes and Leven Greensomes with Eileen Gillespie, the Turnhouse Championship and now the Ladybank Open taking her to her lowest ever handicap (8) well done Champ! |

Pat Hill wins the Joyce Anderson despite a wee slip-up The Ladies played for a new trophy tonight and it's well done to Pat Hill who is the inaugural winner of the Joyce Anderson Trophy. Pat's 69 was a handicap cutting score, Coleen Derighetti was runner-up with a 70 and Violet Paterson took third place with a 71. Unbelievably the top three all carded a nine at some point, with Violet's slip-up happening at the 18th hole. I wonder what Joyce would have made of that. CSS was 70 and there was a fair bit of stable ford adjustment work for our handicap secretary. |

Linda Bain wins Turnhouse Championship Congratulations to Linda Bain who won the Turnhouse Ladies Championship. Linda lived up to her top qualifying spot winning 2 & 1 in the final and is now the current Turnhouse and Lochend Ladies Champion. So with her place in next year's Champion of Champions already secured Linda may have to ponder which club to represent if she retains her Lochend title later in the year. |

Jamie and Diane in the prizes at Murrayfield Jamie Crisp and Diane Moncrieff carded a 71 at Murrayfield Mixed Open in a round dogged by constant rain. Their efforts were rewarded as their score bagged them the 5th handicap spot. Also well done to Robert Binnie and Suzanne Ireland who took the 3rd Scratch prize with an excellent 78. |
||
| 31st May | Lochend trio in the prizes at Prestonfield Prestonfield is normally a happy hunting ground for Lochenders and today was no exception as Sandra Craig, Jaci Moriarty and Helen Borthwick(not pictured) all went home with main prizes. Sandra was the 2nd Bronze Scratch with 97, Jaci showed her new handicap is proving to be no problem by winning the 2nd Silver Handicap with a 73 and Helen was 4th Bronze with 75 well done girls. |
|||
| 29th May | Joan Gray wins May Stableford Joan Gray took top spot in the Stableford today. 35 points the winning score with Pat Meikle runner up with 34 points (still hanging onto that handicap). Violet Paterson was 3rd with 31 points. |

Best ever handicaps for Jane and Jaci after May Medal The May medal might have proved wild and windy and the rough may have got the better of most of us but for Jane Maclean and Jaci Moriarty it was a handicap-cutting performance. Jane won the Bronze with a 71 and when you consider her card included a 10 you realize how well she played. Helen Borthwick was runner-up with a 72 and also cuts her handicap. Jaci takes the Silver with a 70 and gains a new handicap of 14 which, as with Jane, is her lowest ever. It may have been a game of two halfs for Linda Bain but she still managed the runner-up spot in the Silver with a 73. The CSS of 73 will tell you how difficult it was today. |
||
| 19th May | Diane & Suzanne win the Midlothian Summer Spoon Diane Moncrieff and Suzanne Ireland scored the best scratch prize in the Midlothian Ladies Mid-Summer Foursomes over Liberton Golf Course today. A 78 was an excellent score, apparently Diane sunk putts for fun, capping a fine weekend for Suzanne who won at Royal Musselburgh two days ago. Diane and Suzanne now qualify for the final over Torwoodlee later in the year, well done. |

||
| 13th May | Another Tuesday Win for Coleen Taking on the course (and the blessed rough) in the Tuesday Girls Par Competition Coleen Derighetti managed to beat the course 1-up, Fiona Findlay was runner-up with and all-square result and Joan Gray was 3rd with a 1-down score. So with only two people who didn't lose to the course its clear Craigentinny is no push-over. Well no wins for over a year then two come along in quick succession maybe there is something in the fact that I'm no longer Captain after all. |

| 10th May | Coronation Foursomes win for Eileen & Linda Eileen Gillespie and Linda Bain certainly enjoy the Coronation Foursomes competition. They secured their third Corry Fours win today with an excellent 38 points and will represent Lochend in the area final later in the year. Diane Moncrieff and Carole Owens carded a fine 37 points to take a very close second place and Jaci Moriarty and Coleen Derighetti were third with a 35. Previous Winners |

Jaci and Duncan quick off the Mark at Musselburgh Jaci Moriarty and Duncan Ireland got their Mixed Opend season off to a flyer as they shot a superb 68.5 to give them the runner-up sport at Musselburgh's Mixed Open. |

| Sizzling 67 for Diane Moncreiff Following her Summer Matchplay win over Fiona Findlay earlier in the week. Diane Moncreiff scored a fine 67 today giving her the April Silver Medal and who'd bet against her handicap being her lowest ever this year. Diane incredibly started with a three off the tee which makes her score even more impressive. Linda Bain came in second with a 72. Fiona Findlay bounced back after the matchplay defeat to win the Bronze with a 71. She also had a penalty to deal with as she played off the wrong tee (never mind Fiona we've all done it). Jessie Graham was Bronze runner-up with a 79. |

| Another Musselburgh win for Eunice Eunice Reid makes it two out of two at Musselburgh as a 75 is good enough to win the Bronze Medal. It could well have been a Lochend double as her buddy Pat Meikle very narrowly missed out on the Silver medal due to a lapse of concentration on the final two holes. We'll be running out of Eunice photo's at this rate. |
||||
Stableford win for Helen, but only just. Well done Helen Borthwick who won the April Stableford with 35 points. |
||||
| Whitekirk prize for Jane and partner Well done to Jane Maclean who, along with Royal Musselburgh's Frances Jeffrey took the runners-up prize at Whitekirk's Open Greensomes. They were unlucky not to win the competition, eventually just losing out on the count back |
||||
| 29th March | Lorna and Eileen take the rescheduled January Medal Once again weather conditions put paid to any low scoring as strong winds blew most of us away. However Lorna Mackay dealt with the conditions best to win the Bronze with a 72 and a 6-stroke win from runner-up Sue Sayer. And it's two Medal wins in a row for Eileen Gillespie who took the Silver Medal with a 73 from Jaci Moriarty, runner-up with a 75. The good news is no-one is in their buffer zone so no 0.1 increase. |
|||
| 23rd March | Eunice in the winning team at Musselburgh Well done to Eunice Reid who played her part in the winning Triam team over Musselburgh along with Ruth Caroll and Elspeth Morrison. |

| 1st January | Pat's the New Year's Day winner Well done Pat Meikle, firstly for braving the weather and a wee hangover to get up early on a pretty damp New Years Day. and secondly for scoring an excellent 72 to beat Jaci Moriarty on the inward half to win the New Year's day competition. Pat's definitely off and running in 2008 |
