COLEEN DERIGHETTI

Winter Trophy win for Coleen Derighetti
Coleen Derighetti continued her end of season winning streak by winning the Winter Trophy today. The competition did live up to its name with some very harsh muddy conditions and the scores did confirm how difficult it was with 75 being the winning score. Sheila Munro was runner-up with 76 and Eileen Gillespie came third with 79 (on bih).

CSS for today was 72 (RO)

COLEEN DERIGHETTIJACI MORIARTY
SHEILA MUNRO Centenary win number 5 for Coleen
Conditions were tough today for the annual Centenary Trophy competition a competition that seems to bring out the best in Coleen Derighetti, carding a 70 to take the trophy for a 5th time and also cut her handicap to 16.
Last year's winner Jaci Moriarty won the Silver section with 72 with Fiona Findlay 2rd on the better-inward-half from Diane Moncrieff with a 75.
Sheila Munro was the Bronze winner with 74 by a stroke from Sandra Craig with Nicola Moriarty 3rd with 78. Apologies girls the photos on my mobile phone didn't turn out properly so had to make to with the library photo's.

Diane Moncrieff followed up her Foursomes win by winning the Grace Robinson trophy today.
Diane's 71, in very heavy conditions, was just enough to win on the better-inward-half from Eileen Gillespie with Mayte Vaamonde taking 3rd place with a 72.

3rd October DAVID HARPER & HELEN BORTHWICK Invitational win for Helen Borthwick and David Harper
Well done to Helen Borthwick and David Harper who won the Ladies Invitational today. A well attended and tightly contested event saw Helen and David card a 62 to win by a two strokes from Jane Maclean and Alan Thompson.

The pair got off to a flyer in the final against Nicola Moriarty and Ruby Curran with a 5-up lead around the turn but a spirited fightback to 2-up was too much too late for Nicola and Ruby with Diane and Jane finish the match off at the 16th. with Jane now being part of the winning pair for the second year running.

26th September CHARLIE YOUNG, JOHN YOUNG, MARTIN KYLES & JAKE WALKMAN
FIONA FINDLAY, COLEEN DERIGHETTI, HARRY BELL & JACI MORIARTY
The "Young" team take the Alex Urquhart Trophy (and the girls done good too)
A very well attended Alex Urquhart Texas Scramble competition was won by the team of father and son Charlie and John Young along with Martin Kyles and John Walkman with a fine 53.8. And it was good to see the ladies get in on the act as Fiona Findlay, Coleen Derighetti and Jaci Moriarty ensured there was an incentive for Harry Bell to play well and they almost wore out their lippy rewarding him for every good shot and birdie putt. A fine team effort with 6 birdies and one bogie making a round of 54.5 giving them the runner-up spot so close to actually winning with Coleen's birdie attempt at the 17th just lipping-out. Never the less a fun round.
25th September JACI MORIARTYSHEILA MUNRO Big wins for Jaci Moriarty and Sheila Munro in the September medal
A very early rise for Jaci Moriarty didn't prevent her continuing an excellent late-season run with a 69 to give her a 5 stroke win for the Silver medal today from Mandy McBain (74) who is her nearest rival in what is turning into a two-horse race for the league cup with 4 competitions remaining.
Sheila Munro followed up her good showing last Tuesday by winning the Bronze with an even bigger margin, her 70 was 6 shots clear of runner-up Jane Maclean

CSS for today was 70
14th September
JACI MORIARTY
Jaci keeps it in the family by winning the Rebecca Ellis Trophy
It may have been a fantastic season around the mixed opens this year but Jaci Moriarty proved tonight she can do just as well on her own by winning her daughter Rebecca's trophy for a record fourth time.
A number of players managed to reach the 9th hole in the flag-competition format, Sheila Munro (who broke her duck at Lochend by winning this competition last year) almost did it again with two shots left up the 10th. However her drive was wayward and her second shot left just enough for Jaci to come along with one shot to cream her drive past Sheila's flag position into the winning spot.

PREVIOUS WINNERS
12th September PAT MEIKLEFIONA FINDLAY Greensome prize for Pat Meikle and Fiona Findlay
Pat Meikle and Fiona Findlay gave a very good account of themselves again today at the Musselburgh Invitation Greensomes.
Having both did well at the Midlothian Autumn meeting they teamed up to card a 70, which may have been a few strokes behind the winners but it was still the next best score and won them the runner-up prize. Well done again girls.
11th September
COLEEN DERIGHETTI
Betty Noble trophy win for Coleen Derighetti
Well what d'ya know, you wait all year for a win then two trophies come along within 2-days.
Following Thursday night's Summer Matchplay win Coleen Derighetti won today's Betty Noble with a 69 in very bluster conditions. Jaci Moriarty was runner-up with 71 with Jane Maclean 3rd with 77. Had our Handicap Secretary not sunk her putt for a par 4 at the 18th the CSS would have gone up to 71.

COLEEN DERIGHETTI
First ever Summer Matchplay win for Coleen Derighetti
Coleen Derighetti won her first ever Summer Matchplay competition today, finding the best form of the year at just the right time.
Having given exactly 11-strokes away in the previous three rounds it was very different receiving 7 strokes from Diane Moncrieff, defending the trophy she won last year. It looked like Diane had weathered the storm after losing the fist two holes to get back to all square after 9 with both players playing better than their handicaps. However a couple of wayward strikes from Diane and a couple of timely stone-dead pitches from Coleen saw Diane's grip on the trophy end at the 16th for a 4 & 2 win for Coleen.

PREVIOUS WINNERS
JACQUI MCINTOSH Another win for Jacqui Mcintosh
Yes, she is still wowing them at Carrickvale. Yet another win for Jaci McIntosh over Carricknowe with a superb 44 stableford points to take the inaugural "Cullerton Quaich" (which she is looking forward to filling with some port on prizegiving night). Jacqui also reduced her handicap to 20, making her the latest addition to the Silver Section. Well done.
4th September JACI MORIARTY AND DUNCAN IRELAND The hits just keep on coming for Jaci Moriarty and Duncan Ireland
Jaci Moriarty and Duncan Ireland continue to be quite a force as a mixed pairing. The latest success for the Lochenders came at Duddingston where they won the Mixed with today with a 69, half a stoke better then the runner-up couple from Pitreavie. It is the second time Jaci's name appears on the trophy, having won it in 2002 with Colin Davidson. well done.
2nd September FIONA FINDLAYPAT MEIKLE Lochend 1-2 in Midlothian Autumn Meeting
Lochenders have faired well in the recent Midlothian meetings. First at the re-arranged Summer meeting at Baberton Coleen Derighetti was runner up in the Overall handicap competition with a 73 despite three-putting the final two holes. Then in the Autumn meeting over the new Swanston course it was Fiona Findlay and Pat Meikle flying the Lochend flag. Fiona taking the 1st Silver Handicap with and excellent 68 and Pat was second in the same category despite one bad hole Pat still managed a 72 for the runner-up spot.
28th August
JACI MORIARTY

Jaci Moriarty and Diane Crolla take the August Medals
A wild a windy two rounds didn't hinder Jaci Moriarty today. After playing the Kilspindie Mixed open in the morning we'd expect Lochend to be a bit calmer but it was not the case as the blustery conditions were just as tough at Craigentinny (the CSS even went up). However this didn't prevent Jaci Moriarty from carding a 70 to win the Silver medal, one point ahead of Mandy McBain (obviously still going well) runner-up on the better inward half from Diane Moncrieff.
In the Bronze section new member Diane Crolla's 69 won her the medal with Nicola Moriarty taking second place with 71.

CSS for today was 70

26th August
PAT MEIKLE
Another Stableford win for Pat Meikle
Pat appears to be enjoying these summer Stablefords securing another win today with 36 points, three points more than runner-up Pat Hill who in turn was three points ahead of 3rd place Lorna Mackay.

17th August

American Stableford fun night

Yvonne Murdoch, Linda Hutchinson and Pat Meikle came together for a fine team performance to win tonight's alternative Stableford.
A score of 64 stableford points (best one counting at holes 1-6, best two scores at 7-12 and all three counting at the final 6 holed) was a fine score, apparently there were not many no scoring spots on their card, well done.

15th August JACQUI MCINTOSH Yet another prize for Jacqui McIntosh on the road today. A creditable third place at the Lothianburn Triam, along with Karen Oates from Lothianburn and Jacqui Howes of Carrickvale thanks to a fine 56 over what she describes as "possibly the hilliest course I have ever played" well done.

1st August JACQUI MCINTOSH Jacqui McIntosh continued her fine run of form with a third win in a month at Carrickvale. The latest success came in the July Medal where a fine 65 won her the medal as well as another cut in her handicap down to 23. Well Done.
29th July
PAT MEIKLE
Thursday Stableford win for Pat Meikle
It may not have been a well attended competition but 35 points was never-the-less a fine effort from Pat Meikle who is on a bit of a hot streak at the moment after winning the Anniversary Greensomes with Eunice Reid followed by a fine 67 in the Medal which pushed her well up the championship seedings. Pat wins today by a massive 6 points from Joan Gray who scored 29. Pat Hill was third with 27.

Lorna's superb 62 gave her a three shot win in the Bronze Section from Carole Owens 65 and Nicola Moriarty 3rd with another impressive round of 66.
And there were more sub-par rounds in the Silver Section as Mandy McBain won her third medal of the year with a score of 66 and firmly secured her second seed spot for the championship. Sheila Munro wins the Fay Allanach
With the Standard Scratch having been reduced to 69 and the new permanent medal tees providing some additional yardage you would have thought tonight's round was going to be pretty tough.
Not the case as it turned out to be a good scoring competition with Sheila Munro winning her first Lochend Trophy carding a 67 one better than runner-up Mandy McBain and 3rd place Kate Jameson (showing no effects of last weeks 5-day Banff competition).

July 5th -9th Lochenders make a mark at Banff
Many of the Lochend Ladies made the annual pilgrimage up to Banff for the "Duff House Royal" 5-day tournament and they did very well indeed.
Pat Meikle, Jane Maclean Sandra Fairgeieve and Fiona Findlay all qualified for the matchplay events with some very god scoring and handicaps being cut.
Sandra was having the best round ever on the Tuesday until a very bad final hole but still managed to qualify and Jane actually won the second qualifying round with a 69.
Fiona won the consolation medal on the Thursday with a 71 and has now cut her handicap to move back into the Silver Section. Well done all.
9th July JACI MORIARTY AND DUNCAN IRELAND Jaci and Duncan win at Liberton.
Jaci Moriarty and Duncan Ireland capped a very successful few weeks on the Mixed Open circuit by winning the Liberton Mixed matchplay at the 21st hole. Having recently taken the 2nd scratch prizes at Gifford and Murrayfield they again took second scratch at Liberton Mixed strokeplay event and thus qualified for the matchplay event along with another Lochend pairing of Coleen Derighetti and Bren Ford. With Coleen and Bren losing at the first hurdle it was left to Jaci and Duncan to fly the flag for Lochend in the final against the home pairing. And it turned into quite a tussle with Jaci and Duncan eventually winning at the 3rd extra hole. Well Done.
Jacqui McIntosh may not be in the prizes at Lochend yet (just a matter of time) however she did secure another fine win at Carrickvale. An excellent 68 was good enough to win the Cancer Charity competition over the Carricknowe course and cut her handicap to 25, well done. (must get a photo).
26th June
MANDY MCBAIN
Mandy McBain and Yvonne Murdoch win low scoring Championship Qualifying Medals
Mandy McBain led the way today with an excellent 65 to win her second Silver Medal of the season today, one better than Coleen Derighetti's 66. They both secure a cut in handicap with Jaci Moriarty taking third place with a 70. The Bronze Medal was just as competitive with three players carding the best score of 68. Eunice Reid came close to making it three wins on the trot but was 3rd on the b.i.h rule. Open Winner Mayte Vaamonde was 2nd on the b.i.h but the best of the 68's came from last years Bronze Champion Yvonne Murdoch who has set her stall out for this years Bronze Championship with today's win.
CCS for today was 69
Today was the first chance to lay a marker and get a decent score in for Championship Qualification and seven-times winner and hot favourite Linda Bain tops the list so far with today's 76. Mandy McBain's 79 is the next best with Coleen Derighetti and Diane Moncreiff both scoring 83 (Coleen just holding 3rd qualifier spot on the better inward 6 holes) and Jaci Moriarty one stroke behind in 5th place. Pat Meikle, Violet Paterson and Myra Law are the other three players in qualifier positions. Positions which may very well change come August.
24th June
EUNICE REID

Eunice Reid kept up her fine form by winning the June Stableford today and cut her handicap too. An excellent 39 points gave her the win by four points with Kate Jameson and Sandra Fairgrieve both scoring 35 points (Kate taking the runner-up spot on the better inward half).

And this time Sandra did the work all by herself carding 35 points, three points ahead of Margaret Richards with Violet Paterson taking third with 25 points.

3rd May
JACI MORIARTY
Hole In One for Jaci Moriarty
It didn't take long for our Jac to bounce back from the disappointment of just losing out in a place in the Midlothian Championship Final yesterday.
Playing in the HBOS meeting at Liberton today Jaci bagged an ace at the 166 yard 17th with her 7 wood in a round which also included a 2. It is Jaci's second hole in one, the other happened in Australia. And yes she did actually see it disappear into the hole. Well Done.
Lochenders make an impression in the Midlothian Championships.
Once again Lochend had representation in the Ladies Midlothian Championships with three Lochend Ladies making it through to the matchplay stages after the qualifying rounds.
First up our champion Linda Bain made it into the main Championship but was up against top qualifier and eventual finalist Wendy Nicholson from Broomieknowe and went down to a 3 & 2 loss but never-the-less will have gained valuable experience from once again locking horns with one of big guns.
In the B Championship yours truly, Coleen Derighetti, was about to make the 5 minute drive to Prestonfield when she discovered her car had been broken into and the golf clubs stolen. A manic whip-round ensued when a set of clubs was hastily collected from various kindly buddys and the tie went ahead and once I adjusted to the clubs it wasn't too bad and I made a match of it but lost at the 18th to finalist Isobel Halliday (Merchants). Have to say a special thanks to Jaci Moriarty, Bren Ford, Suzanne Ireland and the Vice Captain of the Midlothian County who all lent me various clubs (some of which I might just keep).
It was left to Jaci Moriarty, making an appearance in the matchplay stage for a fourth successive year, to take Lochend interest into the final day, having won her quarter final at the 18th it was looking good in the Semi-Final as Jaci found herself 2 up with 6 holes to play but sadly a sudden dip in form allowed Denise Mitchell (Murrayfield) to gain the momentum to overturn this and win the match at the 17th. Still a good showing by Jaci to just lose out to the eventual competition winner, and will be a good bet to go one better next year.

Well done to new members Jacqui McIntosh and Veronica Gordon who did well at Swanson's Ladies Greensomes their 70.4 was a good enough score to give them 3rd place.
10th April FIONA FINDLAYMANDY MCBAIN

Two 68's secure the Medals for Fiona and Mandy
The low scores are beginning to come through and for today it was Lady Captain Fiona Findlay and Mandy McBain who both carded 68 to win the respective Bronze and Silver Medals.
Carole Owens was the Bronze runner-up with 72 and Jaci Moriarty's 71 gave her runner-up in the Silver.
Expectations were high as Fiona and Mandy were to partner each other in the afternoon at Swanston's Open Greensomes and their 73 was a very creditable showing.

11th April Fun in the Sun for Rab Binnie Texas Scramble
It was another enjoyable get-together for the Rab Binnie Competition and for Brian Ross, Carole Owens, Steven Harper and James Markey it was even more enjoyable as they won the trophy with a Texas Scramble score of 54.1. A very close second (54.5) were the team of Paul Edwards, D. Bennet, David Glanville and Linda Hutchison. Charlie Vescoe, Ricky Richardson along with matching pair Eileen Gillespie and Helen Borthwick made up the third place team who scored 56.6. Craig Sinclair and D. 27th March JACI MORIARTYMARGARET RICHARDS Jaci Moriarty and Margaret Richards February Medal Winners
Very wild and wintry conditions today for the rescheduled February Medal and for Jaci Moriarty the reschedule proved to be a real bonus as she was in Australia on the original date. Low and behold Jaci returned to win the medal today. With three holes to go it was pretty close as Jaci and Mandy McBain were both on the same score but Jaci's steady 4-3-4 finish gave her a three stroke win in the end with a 72, Mandy runner-up with 75.
The Bronze medal was also closely contested with Margaret Richards just winning with 73 by one stroke from new member Jacqui McIntosh.

1st January JACI MORIARTY

Jaci keeps her feet on the ice for New Year win.
It didn't take Jaci Moriarty long to bag her first win of 2010. The freezing conditions did make for some crazy golf, in fact putting on certain greens was farcical (more akin to Dancing On Ice than Golf). Never the less it was a fun round and a good way to clear the cobwebs. Jaci's win makes her the first lady to win back to back New Year's Day Competitions her fourth in total.
