Lochend Golf Club Ladies Open 2008

Lochenders share the spoils as Carol Robertson wins the Open.

Congratulations to Liberton's Carol Robertson who won the Lochend Ladies Open with a fine 67. Carol, a regular participant in our Open, was "over the moon" and "delighted" her early score held out as it became apparant Craigentinny was playing pretty tough today. Carol's score was one of only two to break par, Royal Musselburgh's Helen Yule was the other (68) and that gave her the 1st Silver Handicap Prize.
Ruth Carroll (Musselburgh) carded the best scratch score of the day for the second year in a row, an 82 and by all accounts it could have been much bettter, Swanston's Suzie Williamson was 2nd scratch with 83. Biggest prizewinner of the day must be Mary Cowan (Newbattle) who won the par three competition, Best outward Half and also bagged a half share of the 2's sweep.
And the Lochenders did very well this year too. Captain Eileen Gillespie took the Best Lochend Lady trophy with a 71, beating Coleen Derighetti on the better inward half. Coleen's consolation was the 2nd Silver handicap prize. Sandra Craig followed up her Prestonfield prize-winning with the best Bronze Scratch prize today. Jane Maclean's 74 just pipped Sue Sayer's 75 for the 3rd and 4th Bronze Handicap respectively. Sue also managed to take the nearest-the-pin in two prize at the 4th Myra Law bagged the nearest the pin at the 17th and Linda Hutchison took the nearest the pin in two at the 5th, Pat Meikle won the Seniors prize. and the Lochend prizes were complete as Joan Gray took a 50% share of the 2 sweep as there were only two.
Well done to Eileen and her committee who all worked so hard to ensure the day went to plan, even the weather was perfect.
CSS for Home and Away was 70
