The weather held out and there was a very healthy entry for our Ladies Open. The lower Standard Scratch and the lengthened holes ensured there were not as many sub-70 scores as usual. However there were some very good scores and Lochend Ladies lead the way.
The first 69 of the day gave Coleen Derighetti a brief lead until Rhona Archibald (West Lothian) and Mavis Scully (Melrose) both came in with 68 Pat Meikle then lead the way with a 67 but it was Nicola Moriarty playing her best ever round to finish top with that superb 65.
Pat Meikle took the Best Lochend Lady trophy (as she did in 2002), Coleen Derighetti won the 1st Silver Handicap.
More Lochend success came from Sheila Munro (70) and Sandra Craig (72) who took 2nd and 4th Bronze places respectively.
Eileen Gillespie (71) also had a successful day, taking the 3rd Silver handicap along with two nearest-the-pins-in-two and the longest drive at the 11th.
Margaret Richards, Sue Sayer, Joan Gray, Linda Primmer and Jacqui McIntosh all went away with a selection of Sponsored prizes. Even the Seniors prize went Lochend's way, well done Diane Crolla.
And well done to our committee for another well organized event, our visitors were all very complimentary and clearly enjoyed the day, that's why they come back.
